The Oates House

The Historical Oates House at Woodlake Resort and Country Club is a magnificent reminder of colonial residences. Originally constructed in 1792 in nearby Fayetteville, North Carolina, the house first served as an inn and later became the home of John A. Oates, a judge, historian and civic leader. In a continuing effort to preserve the historic significance of the area and enhance the beauty of the lakefront, the Historical Oates House was moved to Woodlake Resort and Country Club and completely renovated and expanded to serve as a clubhouse. It has now become the social center of the community.
